Mariam Waliji is a London ON based photographer with a passion for connecting -- be it with people, place, or community.
Her personal work explores the beauty in grace and in grit, hoping to challenge her audience to experience the catharsis of feeling infinitely small in, what is frankly, a really big world.

Though her work takes her across the world, Mariam honours the land she lives on as the traditional territories of the Anishinaabeg, the Haudenosaunee and the Lunaapeewak. She seeks to be a good treaty person with specific care to the Two Row Wampum Belt Treaty of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Dish with One Spoon Covenant Wampum of the Anishnaabek and Haudenosaunee. She also wants to be a good neighbour to the First Nations communities nearest to the city of London — Chippewas of the Thames First Nation, Oneida Nation of the Thames, and Munsee-Delaware Nation.
Mariam shows gratitude to the Indigenous peoples who are stewards of the land she takes such joy in adventuring with, and is committed to hearing hard truths and working towards reconciliation in all aspects of her life and work.
